Trail Description: Miles of breathtaking scenic trails within the Santa Rosa/San Jacinto Mountains. The mountain trails can be steep, are challenging, and tend to be rocky. Horses should be in good condition, and shod. ALWAYS carry your own water for horse and rider. You'll be in "desert" country. For the person who prefers less strenuous riding, there are also several miles of "flatland" trails nearby along the perimeter of several prestigious country clubs (including the Merv Griffin Ranch, PGA West, SilverRock, Trilogy, Andulasia, the Hideaway, and the Madison Club, etc.) to accommodate her or his riding pleasure.

Surrounded by the stark scenic beauty of the Santa Rosa/San Jacinto Mountains, the Lake Cahuilla (pronounced "Kah-wee-ah") Equestrian Campground amenities include: Twenty campsites, plus two host sites, each with water and electricity for group and individual day use, overnight useage, or weekly camping; restroom and showers building; a covered common area with concrete floor, water, electricity, camp stoves, picnic tables, and group fire ring; numerous pipe corrals with water nearby, hitching rails, and water troughs. The Equestrian Campground encompasses a twelve acre area which also features several "primitive" campsites for the more adventurous horsey folks. "Primitive" means there are no electric, water, restroom, or shower facilties at the immediate site area. The Lake Cahuilla Recreation Area Park offers non-equestrian individual and group camping, with full hook-up or primitive sites, showers, a dump station fishing, expansive lawns with shade for picnicking and play time, barbecue grills, bicycle racks, convenient parking, non-motorized boating, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, paddle boat rentals, and hiking trails. A large swimming pool (open Apri through October), complete with lifeguard stations, restroom and showers, provides a welcome respite from the desert heat. (No "lake" swimming is allowed.) A picturesque setting makes Lake Cahuilla ideal for special events, ranging from company picnics and concerts, to remote controlled boat races, and fishing derbies. Whether it's a group event, opportunity to enjoy horseback riding, family picnic, or holiday camping trip, Lake Cahuilla Equestrian Camp and Lake Cahuilla Recreational Park offer some of the best enjoyment and recreation in the Desert.
